What shop local means and why it's important
Most of the products in my house are made in china. For example, My hats and my clothes basically all have Made in China printed on them. I found a few books in my house that were printed in the United States as well as deodorant made in the USA. My backpack and water bottle were made in Cambodia.
These items are made much cheaper in countries like China because of all the factories and large-scale manufacturing they do. These companies would be spending a lot more money trying to produce them locally in Canada.
China has made great economic gains in becoming the manufacturer to the world in the last 25 years. However, they have received global criticism for unregulated pollution, unfair practices and poor working conditions at many factories.

COVID-19 Reflections 2-YEAR
What was my life like before
My life before covid was a lot busier and my days were filled with more activities and fewer restrictions. I played for a hockey team, snowboarded, and played for my school football team. Went out with friends regularly, went to stores to eat at lunch, went to school in person, and could shop in person.
What was my life like during the pandemic?
During the duration of covid, I saw a lot fewer people, spent weeks in my room, and barely went outside. When restrictions got a bit lighter I still couldn't do much, if anything if I forgot to bring a mask with me, still couldn't see my grandparents in person, or go outside of Toronto.
I got covid relatively late, in April 2022, once life was pretty much back to normal, so that week with covid was sort of like a recap of the past 2 years.
What I'm hopeful for in the future
Right now things are pretty normal, lots of people still wear masks and I think a lot more people will start wearing masks compared to before covid.
I hope eventually people will be able to go out and do things even if they have a cold/stuffy nose and people realize just because you’re a bit sick doesn't mean you have covid.
